La Plagne is part of the Tarentaise Region which is served by a number of different transport links throughout the year so you can choose your travel mode and get there easily any time of the year.
La Plagne has easy access by road and is approximately 600 miles (975km) from Calais using the toll motorways – all but the last 20kms is by motorway or dual carriageway (and there is a new dual-carriageway under construction to shave 10km off that as well).
The international railway station of Aime la Plagne is approximately 30 minutes from the resort – the station is served by the direct Eurostar “Ski Train” from the UK during the ski season with both overnight and daytime services as well as TGV services via from all over Europe all year round.
There are four airports serving the area : Geneva, Grenoble, Lyon or Chambery – all of which are served by a number of UK budget airlines, charter and scheduled services. Flight prices obviously climb during the ski season – but mainly only on Saturdays. There are several transfer services operating from the airports.
Geneva – 2.5 hours
Chambery – 1.5 hours
Lyon – 3 hours
Grenoble – 3 hours
Other nearby ski resorts include Les Arcs, Val d’Isere, Tignes, Courchevel, Meribel, Val Thorens and La Rosiere – all of which are within easy driving distance. The valley towns of Annecy, Albertville, Chambery and Bourg St Maurice are also all close by.
